Academic Support

Application Support for International funding

The Kyoto University Research Administration Center (KURA) actively supports researchers in applying for competitive international funding. Specifically, for large-scale European and US research funds, such as Horizon 2020, National Institutes of Health (NIH), AXA Research Fund, Human Frontier Science Program, research administrators will work together with faculty members and administrative staff in charge, provide grant information, mediate contractual processes, and review funding proposals. We also support application for travel grants and fellowships, including Harvard Yenching Program, Abe Fellowship, etc.

Application Support

Reviewing funding proposals and organizing mock interviews

We will review funding proposals and organize mock interviews in English if requested.

Communicating with counterpart institutions and funding agencies

When you apply for a foreign fund with another principal investigator abroad, we can communicate directly with administrative staff in the counterpart institution or contact the person in charge at funding agencies to prepare necessary documents, including cover letters, collaborative research agreements, budget documents, and etc. We can also request the legal representative of Kyoto University to sign necessary documents and complete the registration process on your behalf.
*If you plan to apply for NIH, Horizon 2020 and other grants that require Kyoto University to authorize the submission, please contact us immediately for the application support. Contact information is at the bottom of this page.

Briefing sessions for foreign funds

We organize briefing sessions by inviting fund managers to the campus from the Harvard Yenching Program and Human Frontier Science Program (Japanese only). We can also search for foreign funds available for your specific field and topic if requested.
