International Researchers Support Team of Kyoto University Research Administration Office (KURA) held the third networking event in this fiscal year titled “Meet Your KU Community!” online on May 18, 2022. 23 people (including 18 researchers) participated in the event. The purposes of this event were to support and connect international researchers at Kyoto University beyond research fields and departments.
On that day, by Dr. Michael Walter CAMPBELL, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Letters gave a presentation titled “Wittgenstein and Gestalt Psychology” and explained the history of Gestalt psychology using the famous “duck and rabbit” optical illusion, in addition to influences of it to the late Wittgenstein.
In the Q&A that followed, Prof. SAITO Naoko, Professor, Graduate School of Education made several comments and questions, while researchers from a wide range of disciplines; Buddhism, Informatics and Clinical Psychology also asked questions including on the reason why Dr. CAMPBELL has come to be interested in Gestalt psychology and on his more recent research interests.
This event was moderated by SASAKI Yu, and OYAMADA Aya supported the planning and operation of the event. KURA will continue to make efforts to create an environment for international researchers to maximize their research capabilities through supporting research.
