International Researchers Support Team of Kyoto University Research Administration Office (KURA) held the second lunchtime meet-up in this fiscal year titled “Lunchtime Meet-up with CREST＆PREST＆ACT-CX applicants” online on April 22, 2022. 12 people (including 6 researchers) participated in the event. The purposes of this event were to support international researchers at Kyoto University who are planning to apply for the internal fund “CREST/PRESTO/ACT-X & AMED-CREST/PRIME” and to promote applying for this fund.

In the opening part of this event,  OYAMADA Aya, gave a presentation on the overview of “CREST/PRESTO/ACT-X & AMED-CREST/PRIME” including the concept of research areas and important points in the review.

Also, Prof. ITO Takayuki, Professor, Graduate School of Informatics and a past recipient of CREST and PRESTO, joined the event and explained the importance of connecting with research supervisors and colleagues, etc. based on his past experiences.

In the Q&A that followed, participating researchers asked various questions on the balance between the requirements of specific research areas and the applicants’ originality, and what young researchers without many publications need to do to be successful, etc.

This event was moderated by Oyamada Aya, and other URAs (SASAKI Yu and SAKAMOTO Tsubasa) supported the planning and operation of the event. KURA will continue to make efforts to create an environment for international researchers to maximize their research capabilities through supporting research.
