Kyoto University Research Administration Office (KURA) held the second event of the series “Meet Your KU Community!” on 20 December 2021. Aimed at connecting Kyoto University researchers beyond research fields and departments, this networking event was attended by 23 people (including 13 researchers).
This time, Dr. Francesca Pincella, Senior Lecturer, Institute for Chemical Research (ICR) was invited as a speaker. Dr. Pincella gave a brief presentation titled “Green chemistry for a more sustainable society” and explained wood molecular transformation, etc. by citing 12 principles of green chemistry and examples of research activities. She also touched on a networking group of female researchers she is leading and an idea to improve lectures conducted in English on campus.
In the Q&A that followed, participating researchers had a lively discussion with Dr. Pincella by asking questions about recyclable biomass resources and valorization of lignin, and exchanging ideas to improve lectures in English.
At the end of the session, there was an announcement about KURA’s new English Twitter account and the next event.
The planning, public relations and a moderator were done by OYAMADA Aya URA and SASAKI Yu URA in cooperation with other members of International Researchers Support Team (SAITO Chisato URA, KUWATA Osamu URA, Nishida Miya Administration Staff, Uemura Ayana Administration Staff). KURA will continue to make efforts to create an environment for international researchers to maximize their research capabilities through supporting research.
